MINIPRESS XL 2.5MG contains Prazosin which belongs to the group of medicines called Alpha-Blockers. It is mainly used to treat hypertension (condition in which force of the blood is high against the arterial walls), heart failure (a condition in which heart doesn’t pump blood well) and Raynaud’s disease (condition in which some areas of the body may feel numb and cold such as fingers and toes). MINIPRESS XL 2.5MG is also used to treat prostatic hyperplasia in men. Prostatic hyperplasia can be defined as an age-related mild prostate gland enlargement which is categorized by urinary difficulties or increased frequency of urination during night-time.
Prazosin works by reducing the blood pressure where it helps relax the walls of blood vessels and reduce the resistance to blood flow so that blood can pass smoothly without any obstruction. It reduces the chances of heart failure by acting on the main blood vessel, thus allowing the heart to pump blood effectively. It treats Raynaud’s disease (fingers become white and painful when cold) by relaxing the blood vessels so that blood can reach the fingers and promotes circulation thereby prevents fingers being cold and stiff. MINIPRESS XL 2.5MG also treats prostatic hyperplasia (mild enlargement of prostate gland) by relaxing the muscles of bladder and prostate gland and thus helps to pass urine easily.
Before taking MINIPRESS XL 2.5MG, inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease. You should inform your doctor if you have ever had a fainting after passing urine. MINIPRESS XL 2.5MG may cause complications during eye surgeries such as cataract, therefore inform your doctor if you are undergoing any eye operations. MINIPRESS XL 2.5MG is not recommended in children under (12 years of age) and also patients having allergy to prazosin or other quinazolines such as doxozosin and tetrazosin.
